Toy Story 4 On Its Way!
Rumor was that Pixar put the toys into the attic on a permanent basis after the finale of Toy Story 3. Now in a statement released yesterday (November 6, 2014) it appears the creators may be missing Buzz and Woody as much as we are. According to Variety, Pixar and Disney Animation Studios main man John Lasseter, will be directing the fourth installment. In a statement Lasseter says, “We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before.”
In the statement, Lasseter explains that after Toy Story 3 they, “... never even talked about doing another ‘Toy Story’ movie”. But attitudes changed after key Pixar creatives came up with a new idea that Lasseter says, “I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me.”
The big day on the calendar is June 16, 2017. At this point Variety says Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will still voice the iconic Woody and Buzz Lightyear. The announcement from Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger was part of Disney’s fiscal year results report which, no surprise, was very positive thanks to Frozen home video and merchandise sales and other hits like Guardians of the Galaxy.
