Parent Movie Review

Terrified that their parents may be on the brink of splitting up, Stevie (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport ) and her brother Elliot (Elias Janssen) have an idea: they’re going to seek out the Sandman (Omid Djalili) who has the power to grant them a wish. In order to do so, they must magically travel to the world of dreams and force themselves to stay asleep, even when facing Nightmara (Gia Carides), a powerful force determined to stop them from reaching the Sandman.

Navigating this surreal dreamscape proves far harder than they expect. As they confront their fears, Stevie and Elliot must learn to trust one another in ways they never have before. Through each challenge, they discover that bravery isn’t the absence of fear, but the willingness to face it for, and alongside, the people you love.

In Your Dreams is a heartwarming tale about family, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between siblings. The film’s vibrant animation pulls viewers into an enchanting world, while its storytelling blends adventure with genuine emotional depth. Throughout their journey, Stevie and Elliot come to understand that a real, imperfect life is far more meaningful than any flawless fantasy. And when you’re surrounded by love, even the scariest moments become bearable. Ultimately, In Your Dreams reminds audiences that while magic can light the way, it’s courage, connection, and compassion that truly guide us home.

Though the film includes occasional unnecessary rude humor, In Your Dreams remains mostly family-friendly. Viewers should note, however, that its numerous nightmare sequences may be frightening (some of them are genuinely creepy). But for those who aren’t sensitive to depictions of danger or unsettling animation, this film is highly recommended for viewers of all ages.

Directed by Alexander Woo, Erik Benson. Starring Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Elias Janssen, Craig Robinson. Running time: 90 minutes. Theatrical release November 14, 2025. Updated
