Studio Announces New Spider-Man
In 2012 Tom Holland starred along Naomi Watt and Ewan McGregor in the tsunami drama The Impossible. Now the 19-year-old actor may be taking on another impossible role. He’s been named as the new Spider-Man in Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios reboot of the series.
The British-born actor will follow in the footsteps of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire who have both played the web-slinging superhero. It is a big role to fill for the incredibly young looking actor with a relatively short resume. Along with The Impossible, Holland did voice work in the UK version of The Secret World of Arrietty. He also made appearances in Locke. How I Live Now and the TV mini-series Wolf Hall. He also put his dancing skills to use in Billy Elliot the Musical Live. Holland will likely make his first appearance as Spidey in the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War. His solo movie is scheduled to release in 2017.
