Star Trek Into Darkness Director Gives Early Present to Fans

UPDATE: December 6, 2012: Paramount has released a new “announcement”—essentially a teaser trailer for Star Trek: Into Darkness. NOV. 29, 2012: Trekkie fans anticipating the May 2013 release of J.J. Abrams’ sequel Star Trek Into Darkness get an early Christmas present. The first nine minutes of the film debut in 500 digital IMAX 3D theaters beginning December 14.

The 2009 film Star Trek, starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as the young Star Fleet officers Kirk and Spock, jumpstarted the franchise with a younger, fresher cast. Now the 2013 sequel promises to push those boundaries by being the first to show exclusive footage in IMAX 3D.
