Netflix Releases New Movie Line-Up for September
Cooler weather means autumn is in the air. And with that comes a new line-up of movies coming to Netflix for September viewing.
September 1:
A young Taylor Lautner (who plays Jacob in Twilight) plays a young superhero named Sharkboy in the kids’ movie The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl (2005). The film is created by the same director behind the Spy Kids’ franchise.
Business commuters will related to the lifestyle of Ryan Bingham who finds himself constantly flying from one location to another in the 2009 movie Up in the Air. The film stars George Clooney as an expert involved in corporate downsizing.
In the 2005 movie Zathura, Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games, Journey to the Center of the Earth) plays one of two brothers who discover an old board game that sends them on a wild adventures in the far flung regions of the universe.
September 2:
Kevin Costner plays a grandfather in a custody battle in the movie Black or White. After his wife dies, Eloise’s other grandmother wants to care for the child and her lawyer is willing to exploit the racial divide in order to help them win their case.
September 9:
In Teen Beach Movie, two teens are magically transported into a 1962 beach movie where they have to sing and dance until they can find a way home.
September 11:
Madame Bovary stars Paul Giamatti, Wzra Miller and Mia Wasikowska in a period piece set in 19th century France where a young woman ends up in a disappointing marriage to a country doctor. She begins to find happiness in extramarital affairs.
September 16:
When two young teens run away in Moonrise Kingdom, the entire town of dysfunctional adults gets involved in looking for the adolescents.
September 22:
A journalist begins a search for a child who was given up at birth after he meets the boy’s mother in the heartfelt story of motherly love in Philomena. Steve Coogan and Judi Dench star in the film.
Netflix Canada customers will get a chance to see the civil rights movie Selma this month. Actor David Oyelowo takes on the role of Dr. Martin Luther King who is thrown into the unrest surrounding the death of a young marcher.
Reese Witherspoon plays a recently divorced woman in search of herself in the movie Wild. After her life begins to fall apart, she embarks on a solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail.
Dog lovers can watch the 1993 movie Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. The script tells the story of three pets (voiced by Michael J. Fox, Sally Field and Don Ameche) that escape from their boarding kennel and make their way home.
Director Tim Burton manages to make Christmas look a whole lot like the end of October in his animated movie The Nightmare before Christmas. In the story, the King of Halloween is tired of frightening others and decides to bring a little warmth to his holiday by borrowing some ideas from Christmas.
