Jurassic World Dominates the Weekend Box Office
Jurassic World thundered into theaters this past weekend to a staggering $511.8 million in worldwide box office receipts and became the first film ever to gross more than $500 million in a single weekend.
In North America, the film became the second-biggest release with a take of $204.6 million, slightly behind Marvel’s The Avengers who brought in $207.4 on its debut. It also became Universal Studios biggest opening domestic weekend ever, slashing the tires of Furious 7 that earned $147.1 million.
While the massive Indominus Rex and dinosaurs may have been the biggest draws in this sci-fi drama, the film cemented Chris Pratt’s image as a Hollywood A-lister and adds to the rumors he is being sized up for the next Indiana Jones.
