Although he is just the manager of a budget motel close to Disney World, Bobby (William Dafoe) can't help but take notice of Moonee (Brooklynn Prince), a six-year-old guest. The playful girl and her mom are renting week-to-week, yet as the summer passes Bobby gets drawn into the life of the neglected child and becomes concerned over the choices being made by her young, single mother (Bria Vinaite).
