Home Video Releases for June 2

After a dearth of new releases on home video, the shelves are bulging this week with options for almost everyone.

Cross country runners finally get a chance to see their sport on the big screen in the inspiring movie McFarland, USA. The movie stars Kevin Costner as a disgraced high school teacher who gets one last chance when he is hired at a beleaguered California school where he puts together a running club.

In a take on the Cinderella story, Jupiter Jones leads a mundane life as an illegal immigrant that works as a cleaning lady in the PG-13 rated Jupiter Ascending. But when strange characters begin stalking her, she discovers she has the same DNA code as the queen of an alien race.

It’s a fish out of water story—or in this case a sponge out of water in the movie SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water. When Mr. Krabs secret recipe for Krabby Patties is stolen, the friends at Bikini Bottom go topside to recover it.

The 1995 drama Apollo 13 re-releases to home video this week. The film tells the ill-fated story of the 1970 space mission that left three astronauts struggling to find a way home after their ship is compromised by an explosion within the vessel.

Will Smith and Margot Robbie star as a couple of con artists in the R-rated movie Focus. Robbie’s character wants to learn the trade from the experienced criminal played by Smith.
