Why is Y2K rated R? Y2K is rated R by the MPAA for bloody violence, strong sexual content/nudity, pervasive language, and teen drug and alcohol use.

Violence: There is frequent, bloody violence that is often played for laughs. People use bladed weapons and there are stabbings and decapitations. A person’s throat is slit. A man is stabbed in the eye and can be heard screaming in agony. A man dies in a failed attempt at a skateboard trick. A person is repeatedly beaten in the legs and torso with a metal implement and is later fatally beaten by a man’s fists. Bloody injuries are lingered on and there is lots of blood splatter and spray imagery.
Sexual Content: Someone is watching pornography which contains an explicit scene of penetration. The man’s penis is visible as are the woman’s breasts. A woman gives birth to a robot.
Profanity: The script contains over 200 profanities, almost half of which are sexual expletives.
Drug/Alcohol Use: Underage characters smoke marijuana.
