Nearly a decade ago, Stan Ross (Bernie Mac) walked out on his team after batting his 3000th hit and spoiled the Milwaukee Brewers' run for the pennant. But when the shoe-in for the Hall of Fame is informed three of his hits didn't count, the egotistical baseball player determines to stage a comeback.
