Synopsis

In this dark-humor satire, Hugh Grant plays the competitive host of an amateur performance show called American Dreamz, who claws his way to the top of the ratings heap by picking divergent contestants (such as an Arab, a Jew and a "white-trash" girl with a soldier boyfriend injured in Iraq) and signing up the US president (Dennis Quaid) as a guest judge.

Here is additional information on sex, violence and profanity in American Dreamz...

Usual content concerns are relatively minor in this PG-13 film. A sexual expletive and a sound-alike are heard, as well as a few other minor and moderate profanities. On screen violence is mainly contained to an opening sequence depicting Arab terrorists training in an Al-Queda like camp. An Arab character is preparing to kill himself and the US President with a suicide bomb. Deaths are implied from an off-screen explosion. No overt sexual content is seen, however it is concluded that an unmarried couple has engaged in sexual activities. Some derogatory remarks are made about a homosexual character. Other ethnic and religious groups are made fun of. Political leaders are portrayed as buffoons. One couple discusses taking “happy pills” and occasionally characters are seen drinking alcohol.
