Wicked Rumored to be Coming to Theaters in 2016

Wicked fans may have reason to rejoice. Rumors are circulating the Broadway hit will make its silver screen debut in 2016.

Producer Mark Platt (Into the Woods) told Film Divider it is a loose goal. “Audiences enjoy that show so much that we are intending to move forward on the movie but we aren’t going to do so until we are satisfied in the material we have as a screenplay, and that the film will be every bit as satisfying as what we have on the stage.”

Winnie Holzman, who wrote the Wicked stage musical book, is currently working on the script. Stephan Daldry (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, The Hours) has been chosen as director.
