So Sad… No Pixar Movies in 2014
Families looking for movies to watch together have become conditioned to seeking out at least one movie per year—and it’s typically the annual Pixar release. But the studio’s next picture, The Good Dinosaur, has been bumped due to a change in directors and that has bumped the studio’s entire schedule. This isn’t the first time Pixar has made a director swap midstream. It happened with Brave and earlier with Ratatouille showing this is a studio that isn’t afraid to say, “It isn’t quite right”, even if it means tough decisions. Perhaps that’s why they are the only studio to have a 1000 batting average at the box office. And this isn’t the first time we’ve had to wait through a calendar year to get our Pixar fix. 2005 was also devoid of talking toys, cars, rats and superhumans.
So the new revised schedule looks like this: The next Pixar movie that is currently in production, titled Inside Out, is set to release June 19, 2015. Then, five months later, we should see The Good Dinosaur on November 25, 2015. That was the original date for the Finding Nemo sequel titled Finding Dory but now that has been bumped to June 17, 2016.
In the meantime remember we did get two Pixar pictures this year—Monsters University and Planes. As for 2014, dust off the DVDs and Blu-rays and do a Pixar Party. Anyone up for a Toy Story marathon in the family room?
