Filming Begins for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Harry Potter fans have something to look forward to. J.K. Rowling is about to bring another character to the big screen. The action adventure movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them begins principal photography today. The film from Warner Bros. Pictures is set in the wizarding world first introduced by J.K. Rowling in her Harry Potter novels.

The story introduces Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne), a preeminent magizoologist who travels through New York years before Harry and his schoolmates arrive at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft. Newt’s mission is to catalogue the magical creatures he discovers and create a textbook for students.

In June of this year, Warner Bros president Greg Silverman said, “Eddie Redmayne has emerged as one of today’s most extraordinary talented and acclaimed actors. We are thrilled to welcome him into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where we know he will deliver a remarkable performance as Newt Scamander, the central character in ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.’”

The film, directed by David Yate, stars Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Folger and Ezra Miller along with Colin Farrell who plays the wizard Graves.

The film is scheduled to release worldwide in 3D and IMAX on November 18, 2016.
