Why is Final Destination: Bloodlines rated R? Final Destination: Bloodlines is rated R by the MPAA for strong violent/grisly accidents, and language.
Violence: Violence is constant, bloody, and graphic. People are killed in gruesome ways: a person’s head is shredded by a lawnmower; a person’s head is caught in the hydraulic press of a garbage truck (she is beheaded and dismembered); a man is killed when an MRI machine is turned on, which pulls the piercings out of his genitals and then pulls a wheelchair towards him, which ultimately rips through his body. The MRI machine also pulls parts out of a vending machine, which punch through a man’s head. There is a lengthy scene of a man dying from an anaphylactic reaction to peanuts. Multiple people die when they are crushed by, respectively a piano, a falling elevator, falling logs, a collapsing skyscraper and a falling lamppost. People die from falls. A person falls into a fire, but survives. A person is connected to a ceiling fan by their nasal piercing and is dragged around as a result. A wind vane impales a woman, tearing apart her jaw. A woman’s hand is ripped off when her engagement ring hooks onto a collapsing building. A woman is impaled by debris through the throat. A person is set on fire by a cooking accident, which ignites a gas leak and causes a building fire. People run as a train hurtles towards them.
Sexual Content: A man makes a sexual gesture. There are sexual references and moments of innuendo. A man’s genitals are visible through his clothes when an MRI machine pulls his genital piercings towards it.
Profanity: The script contains approximately three dozen profanities, including sexual expletives, scatological curses, and crude anatomical terms.
Drugs/Alcohol: There is brief social drinking.
