Why is Better Man rated R? Better Man is rated R by the MPAA for drug use, pervasive language, sexual content, nudity and some violent content
Violence: A person attempts suicide, once in a car and once with a razor blade. A live performance includes dramatizations of violent acts including stabbings and decapitations.
Sexual Content: Abortion is mentioned. Women’s breasts are seen in a non-sexual context and when a man is in bed with three women. There are verbal references to a variety of sexual practices. Men’s buttocks are visible. Masturbation occurs below the screen. A man draws pictures of ejaculating penises.
Profanity:The script contains over 120 sexual expletives, frequent scatological curses, terms of deity, and crude anatomical terms. A person uses a slur for people with intellectual disabilities. A sexual hand gesture is used.
Drugs/Alcohol: People frequently drink alcohol to the point of inebriation. Characters smoke cigarettes. The toll of drug addiction is seen as is drug use including snorting cocaine and shooting heroin.
