May kicks off the start of the summer movie season. And the first of the blockbusters to hit the screen is The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Sales from the late shows on Thursday combined with Friday screenings came to just over $35 million for the franchise. Mom’s Night Out isn’t aimed at the kids. But any mother who’s dreamed of eating just one meal without interruption will likely enjoy this comedy from Andrew and Jon Erwin. While it feels a lot like Date Night—minus the crude and sexual humor—the film’s message about the importance of accepting your efforts as a mother (delivered from a tattooed biker) is one that most moms will appreciate.

Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return takes moviegoers back to the Land of Oz in this 3D computer-animated musical. Once she arrives there, Dorothy discovers her old friends are all in danger. Along the way she meets new friends who join with her, the Lion, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and Glinda to stop the evil Jester who is trying to take over Oz.

Sci-fi fans can line up to see Godzilla leave his footprints all over the city of San Francisco in this reboot of the film franchise. The story introduces the origins of the Japanese film monster and is directed by Gareth Edwards.

The script is based on real life pitchers Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel.

The past and present get all mixed up in X-Men: Days of Future Past when Wolverine is sent back in time to change the course of the future. The superhero film is the seventh in the X-Men franchise.

The story of Sleeping Beauty is told from the perspective of the wicked Maleficent in the movie starring Angelina Jolie in the title role. Elle Fanning plays the sleepy princess who discovers the Mistress of All Evil has been following her.

Trying to save their dying town, a group of people in a small coastal town in Eastern Canada attempts to lure a young doctor to the community in The Grand Seduction. While getting him there is hard enough, keeping him there may prove to be even more difficult.
