The Flintstones cartoon and McDonalds Restaurants both celebrate anniversaries the week of October 4, 2010

The cartoon show The Flintstones celebrated its fiftieth anniversary on September 30, 2010. Along with nearly a six-year television run, the characters have also enjoyed a couple of theatrical releases. The Bedrock buddies, Fred and Barney, along with their wives Wilma and Betty, can be seen in the live action films The Flintstones and The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.
Ray Kroc, founder of the McDonalds fast food franchise was born on Oct. 5, 1902. His restaurant was featured in the 2004 documentary Super Size Me. The golden arches also show up in Spider-Man, The Santa Clause 2 and Men in Black II.

Kerry Bennett is interested in media from both a journalist and parent perspective.
