3 Movies to Celebrate Spring

Today marks the arrival of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Depending on where you live, it might not look like winter has loosened its grip. But in the words of Alexander Pope, “Hope springs eternal in the human breast.” So whether you are already enjoying the fresh green of new grass and budding leaves, or patiently hoping for the arrival of flowers, here are three movies that celebrate the changing of the seasons.

Nothing signals the coming of Spring like the arrival of new baby animals in the 1942 Disney animated movie Bambi. Among the newborns is a little fawn that makes friends with a skunk, a rabbit and a wise old owl. This charming critter also has to learn to stand on his wobbly legs before he can go exploring with the rest of the new arrivals.

Spring also brings changes in the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. After kidnapping some of the local females, Adam and his brothers take them to their cabin in the mountains before a winter avalanche covers the only way in or out. Now the boys have to face the fathers of these girls when the spring melt occurs and opens the road to the mountain location.

There is nothing better than getting outside after a long and chilly winter. In The Secret Garden, a young orphaned girl has been cooped up in a dreary castle-like mansion for too long. But her world warms up when she and the son of her guardian find their way into a secret enclave full of flowers and sunshine.
