The Big Short - First Trailer

Why is it that sex and greed seem to go hand in hand? At least that’s the impression I’m left with after watching this first trailer for this year’s Wolf of Wall Street, a movie that seemed happier to celebrate than condemn fraud and deception. The Big Short releases Christmas Day (ho, ho, ho!) and tells the story of how 99.999% of us lost our shirts, homes, jobs and a few other trinkets when the markets collapsed seven years ago. The good news, kind of, is a few wise guys understood how to make a fortune from the debacle. Seven short years later, Paramount Studios is hoping we’re all ready to spend a few bucks for the opportunity to relax and be entertained by this true story. (It’s kind of like when your ten year old casually mentions she was the one who flooded the basement family room way back when she was seven and she doesn’t recognize that you’re still paying for the cleanup.)

All cynicism aside, this looks like an engaging story that has the potential to teach us a few lessons that we should never forget. I’m just hoping the sexual content doesn’t override those important concepts. Because there are some sexual moments in the trailer (which you can view below) we have turned our “age gate” on to discourage underage viewers. No rating has been released for this movie yet, but I’m betting it will be an R, which is unfortunate. I’m hoping I’m wrong.
