Seventeen-year-old Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence) learns from the local sheriff that her father put the family house up for his bail bond, and then disappeared. If the accused man doesn’t show up for his court date, she and her struggling family will be turned out into the Ozark wilderness. Despite the dangers involved, Ree determines to track down her drug-dealing Dad.

The MPAA has rated Winter’s Bone R for some drug material, language and violent content.
