I took my 15 and 13 year old daughters to see the film today with same age friends. Having read the book previously I knew the more sexual content in the book had to have been addressed to obtain the PG 13 rating. I did caution the girls about the possibility of cruelty to animals being evident and reassured them that the elephant actor was just that—a happy actor.
The lighting, music, beautiful settings and costume detail is what caught and held our attention as well as the very well told story. Everyone loved it. The girls were most happy to learn their favorite vampire from the Twilight franchise is an accomplished actor in this happy ending story of triumph over tragedy. Sexual content and language was on a par with network television fare.
