I enjoyed the first of the Pirates of the Caribbean series but each film since then seems to have become less family-friendly. The good points of this film were as ntmanning said, the music, choreographed fight scenes etc. However the sexual innuendos (particularly between the main characters) are done in just a way to give irresponsible messages to teens, but as an adult they’re not even funny. As the movie ends, Jack Sparrow abandons Angelica on a deserted island just after she tells him she’s pregnant with his child. Generally disappointed with the lack of good humour.

Pirates 4=C+. Ton of action & adventure but lacked the WOW-factor that should have been a part of the Pirates franchise. Still worth a watch for a pure popcorn flick.
Ian McShane (as Blackbeard) was impressive - Penelope Cruz didn’t bring a whole lot to the film though - also a couple of subplots were throwaways to me.
Johnny Depp was great as always, but could do Capt. Jack Sparrow in his sleep.
The music, choreographed fight scenes, costumes and set design were spot on -yet the film still lacked the pacing and plot line to hook me. But if you’re looking for an early summer escape, you may find yourself looking beyond the flaws.
Parents beware: Some of the material, including sexual innuendos, frightening sequences and violence, may not be appropriate for younger viewers.
