This is truly an NC-17 film. No one under 35 is going to get all the in-jokes depicted. After all, you need to have been at least 16 in 1986 to identify what is going on in the film. There are several funny scenes that adults 35 to 65 might enjoy. Unfortunately, there are a few scenes that are just beyond community standards and spoil the mood of the film. The ending of the film tries to remedy some of this with a happy hypothetical “what would have happened if ...” that has some redeeming qualities but this film is very much like visiting that unfamiliar and unclean public toilet you encounter on a trip. You just can’t wash your hands soon enough to get out of there. Parents do not let your teens get hold of the Unrated DVD now available.
