Although I was a bit disappointed with all the ‘bells & whistles’ added to the story compared to the book, this is good fun for the family.  I enjoyed the humour, and the content & style justifies the 3D element.  My 7yr.-old son Max really enjoyed it! See his own review at:

I loved reading this book to my now 10 year old when he was younger.  It was a cute movie but there were a couple of scenes that were troubling to me.  There was a scene with the mayor and he called the town “a hell hole”  I think calling the town a dump would get the same point across.  I didn’t think that was necessary or appropriate for a childrens movie.  The other was a scene in which Flint took Sam to a “jello mold mansion” and showing her various things around the “house” and there was a boom box which he (Flint) referred to it as a “ghetto blaster.”  That was jaw dropping to me.  It was cute and the music was great but I could do without the two inappropriate scenes.
