Synopsis

The Nativity Story, which retells the birth of the baby Jesus, will be a welcome cinematic present for those who believe Christ to be the King of Kings. Starring Keisha Castle-Hughes as Mary and Oscar Isaac as Joseph, the production includes everything you would expect in a film bearing this title and, even with some dramatic license, should please most Christian audiences.

Here is additional information on sex, violence and profanity in The Nativity Story...

Violence in the form of Roman soldiers intimidating people (they abduct a young girl after her father cannot pay his taxes) and searching for infant male children will be the most concerning issue for parents. In the opening few minutes of the film, the soldiers go from home to home carrying swords and take male children from their parents, strongly implying the children are being killed. Three men are also seen hanging from crosses, two women are depicted in the painful process of delivering a baby (no nudity is seen), and animals are shown being sacrificed at a temple. Parents may need to explain the basics of conception to younger children. No profanities were noted.
