It is traditional for a bride to be given away by her father, but that is a problematic custom for Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) because she doesn't know her Dad's identity. Nor will her mother (Meryl Streep) confess. Wanting to find out, the young woman invites three of her Mom's old boyfriends (Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgaard) to the wedding, hoping one of them may be the right man.
