Why is The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death rated PG-13? The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for some disturbing and frightening images, and for thematic elements.

Violence: A young character dies, presumably from drowning, and the body, wrapped in barbed wire, is seen on a beach. A young character, under the influence of a metaphysical being, begins wrapping yarn around her neck but is interrupted prior to killing herself. Many scenes feature ghoulish images of faces that appear partially decomposed with eyes that are grey and opaque. These depictions are often accompanied by loud sound effects in “jump scenes” intended to frighten the audience. Much of the movie takes place in dark rooms with glimpses of things moving in the background. A child is briefly bullied by two boys while playing a game of hide and seek. A woman mourns over an unwed pregnancy (we briefly see her in a hospital bed covered with sheets, some of which have blood upon them). Some other scenes contain brief and mild blood depictions.

Sexual Content: Embracing and kissing is shown.

Language: Brief name-calling and a single mild religious term are used.

Alcohol / Drug Use: An adult briefly smokes a cigarette.
