Why is Something Borrowed rated PG-13? Something Borrowed is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for sexual content including dialogue, and some drug material.
Violence: Violent scenes from Fatal Attraction, including attempted drowning, a bloody knife fight and a shot that hits a person and splatters blood all over the wall behind her, are seen on a TV screen. One character hits another in the face with a badminton racket. A woman yells at others. Characters lie frequently.
Sexual Content: Characters often discuss sexual activities. Casual sex without any commitment is accepted. Discussions include the use of crude sexual slang, crass comments, anatomical terms and descriptive dialogue. A couple kisses passionately on several occasions and is shown in bed together in the morning. Repeated sounds of sexual activity are heard. A couple watches a film with lesbian kissing. A man gives another man a peck on the cheek after he says he is gay. Women dance erotically at a bar. A suggestive and partially nude photo of a woman is seen. A character becomes pregnant. Individuals are unfaithful in their relationships.
Language: The script includes a single use of a strong sexual expletive, numerous terms of Deity, repeated swearing and scatological slang.
Alcohol / Drug Use: Characters frequently drink in social settings, at home and in bars. Characters are depicted as intoxicated on several different occasions. A man invites a woman to accompany him outside to smoke an illegal substance. Although the activity takes place off screen, the couple is later shown in a relaxed state.
