Rating & Content Info
Why is The Quiet Ones rated PG-13? The Quiet Ones is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for intense sequences of violence and terror, sexual content, thematic material, language, and smoking throughout.
Violence: A woman is held captive by a man, under the guise of receiving mental health support and treatment, however she is subjected to physical and verbal abuse along with experimental procedures involving electricity. Characters are injured by unseen forces (the wounds are depicted with explicit blood effects). A man slaps a woman. A man holds a woman’s arm over a candle until it begins to cause a visible burn. A man’s hand is bitten by an unseen entity and is shown covered in blood. After a character stabs a doll, another character screams in pain and is covered in blood. A woman is trapped in a room by an unseen entity. A man hits another man with a large club, knocking him unconscious. A woman with unusual physical power begins choking a man. A man places his arm through a window and begins screaming when something grabs it (although no details are shown, it is implied he has lost his arm).
Sexual Content: A man and woman head into a bedroom and hearing sexual sounds. Moments later they are seen in bed partially covered and his naked backside is seen briefly. In two scenes a woman is shown in a bathtub and her breasts are very briefly exposed. A professor kisses one of his female students—it is undetermined if his actions are unwanted as he is later seen with this same woman who is attempting to seduce him.
Language: Profanities are infrequent, however they do include a sexual expletive, two uses of a crude term for sexual intercourse and some scatological expressions.
Alcohol / Drug Use: Some characters are seen smoking throughout the movie. A character under the care of a researcher is shown being injected with an unknown drug on more than one occasion.
