Why is Nancy Drew rated PG? Nancy Drew is rated PG by the MPAA or mild violence, thematic elements and brief language.

Based on the classic series of novels, this film does contain an actual mystery involving the mysterious death of a Hollywood star. Some scenes of peril may be bothersome to young viewers, but otherwise the action is appropriate for the situation and should be suitable for ‘tweens and above. The more serious confrontations include a couple of men being hit with shovels, a car chase, and a person who has an anaphylactic reaction and requires a cricothyroidotomy (not seen on screen, and often referred to as an emergency tracheotomy—please see “Talk about the movie…” below). Language contains a couple terms of deity used as expletives. No sexual content is noted other than a brief kiss between teen characters and some bare midriffs. Finally, Nancy holds a birthday party at her home that gets a little out of control (loud music and kids carelessly treating property are depicted) and the police show up after a neighbor complains. Amazingly, Nancy’s father reacts by being pleased she is becoming a “normal” teenager.
