Why is Jupiter Ascending rated PG-13? Jupiter Ascending is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for some violence, sequences of sci-fi action, some suggestive content and partial nudity

Violent confrontations are pervasive in this movie where enemies of the main character seek to have her killed. Battles between high-tech machines, spacecrafts and beings (human and otherwise) include weapons use, explosions and hand-to-hand battles. Torture is implied. Death threats are made. Property damage is abundant. Deaths and injuries are implied and shown, sometimes with blood effects. Characters are constantly in peril. Characters are lied to and betrayed. Characters willingly take the lives of others for their own personal gain.

Sexual Content:
Many female characters wear revealing costumes. One woman is shown in her bra and panties, another’s bare buttocks are seen as she steps out of a bathing pool. Other background characters are naked, but no explicit details are seen. A woman goes to a fertility clinic to donate eggs—she is seen in a medical gown with her legs spread apart. Characters embrace and kiss. Some sort of unspecified sexual activity is implied between a man and a group of women.
