Why is Into the Storm rated PG-13? Into the Storm is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for sequences of intense destruction and peril, and language including some sexual references.

Violence: Frequent portrayals of weather-related destruction are seen throughout. Characters are in peril, however there is little blood or detail shown. Children, especially those who have experienced real weather disasters, may find the movie particularly frightening. In one storm a man is sucked into a flaming twister (we briefly see him on fire) and his death is implied. Two teens enter an abandoned building and are caught in a pit filling with water from the storm; one of the teens nearly drowns and is recovered after receiving CPR. A teen has a bloody leg injury. Two men engage in reckless activities for the purpose of filming their stunts and uploading the video to the Internet.

Sexual Content: Two teen couples are in a vehicle; the boy and girl in the back seat are embracing and kissing. Teens make a couple of brief sexual remarks. A teen boy disobeys his father so he can spend time with a girl.

Language: Frequent scatological terms are heard throughout. A single crude term for sex is used along with other terms of Christian deity.

Alcohol / Drug Use: Two men engage in dangerous stunts in their large backyard that is littered with beer cans. While we don’t see them drinking, their behavior could imply alcohol consumption.
