The Devil Wears Prada
Rating & Content Info
Why is The Devil Wears Prada rated PG-13? The Devil Wears Prada is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for some sensuality.
This film hits the lower end of the PG-13 classification, but still has some issues parents will want to be aware of. The fashion industry is portrayed with no apologies for its penchant for very thin women and the notion size six is “fat.” One woman comments she is “one stomach flu away from her goal weight.” While no overt sexual activity is seen, the protagonist lives with her boyfriend and we witness a couple of moments of sensuality between them. Later we see her sleeping with another man. Other scenes show women in underwear getting dressed. A sudden car accident involving a pedestrian leaves a person in hospital with a bruised face. Language is limited to one scatological expletive, some moderate profanities and a few terms of deity. Alcohol use is seen at fashion parties, during socializing after work, and a scene where a man tells a woman she could really use a drink and then later convinces her to sleep with him.
