Why is 13 Hours - The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi rated R? 13 Hours - The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi is rated R by the MPAA for strong combat violence throughout, bloody images, and language.

Violence: Frequent scenes depict violent confrontations between warring factions. Many people are shot on screen with copious blood effects. Some scenes show explicit injuries, including a man holding his partially dismembered arm that is gushing blood. Another scene appears to show a person cut in half by an explosion. In other scenes people are threatened with guns and various weapons. Virtually every scene of the movie depicts characters in peril.

Sexual Content: A sexual gesture is seen. A photo of rabbits mating is briefly shown.

Language: At least 35 sexual expletives are heard, along with other scatological slang and vulgar expressions. Terms of deity are used as expletives.

Alcohol / Drug Use: People are seeing using a hookah pipe. A man drinks hard liquor while under stress. People drink socially.
