The title character, Dora the Explorer, will be played by 17-year-old Isabela Moner (Transformers: The Last Knight). Nonetheless, the plucky Latina soon finds herself on an adventure to save her parents and uncover a lost civilization. Along the way she makes new friends while staying close to old pals.

The film will be shot on-location in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) will direct and Kristin Burr (Christopher Robin) will produce. Executive producers include John G. Scotti (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Alice Through the Looking Glass), Julia Pistor (The Spiderwick Chronicles) and Eugenio Derbez.

172 episodes of Dora the Explorer ran on TV for fourteen seasons (2000-2014) on Viacom’s children’s cable network. Paramount Pictures is a subsidiary of Viacom. Nickelodeon is part of the Viacom Media Network, also a division of Viacom.
