Although this film is a work of fiction, the legend of D.B. Cooper is true. After skyjacking a plane in 1972 between Portland and Seattle, Cooper demanded four parachutes and $200,000. Somewhere between the two cities, he jumped from the rear door of the 727 with cash in hand, and disappeared. To this day, no firm evidence has ever been found to determine his location or possible death, making it the only unsolved domestic air criminal case.
