How We Determine Our Grades

After watching a movie with your children or students, we encourage parents and teachers to look for education opportunities to teach with movies. Here are a few discussion topics that can help with lesson plans or teaching in the home.

To appreciate this movie, you have to sympathize with the characters. Do you feel Peter made the right decision when he cut the rope holding his father? Was Annie justified in criticizing Peter for his actions? What would you have done given the same circumstances?

In reality, many people have been critical of relatively inexperienced people who pay high fees to experienced crews to escort them on climbs of famous mountains. A major mishap occurred on Mt. Everest in 1996 due to a situation similar to the one depicted in this movie. Do you think this movie would encourage or discourage people from taking exorbitant climbing risks?
