After watching a movie with your children or students, we encourage parents and teachers to look for education opportunities to teach with movies. Here are a few discussion topics that can help with lesson plans or teaching in the home.
Movies often do things that are illogical. For instance, why could Joshua keep up with the man running to the apartment but not Regina when she was running away from him in high-heeled shoes? How do directors manipulate scenes to achieve their desired effect?
Regina is portrayed as very trusting. What situations did she find herself in that would make you feel uncomfortable in your own life? What safety issues do you consider when meeting someone for the first time, either in person or on the Internet?

Kerry Bennett is interested in media from both a journalist and parent perspective. Along with authoring articles for several family-oriented publications, she has written for Parent Previews for nearly 10 years. She serves as Vice President of the Alberta Association for Media Awareness. She and her husband Garry have four sons.
