| How We Determine Our Grades | |
After watching a movie with your children or students, we encourage parents and teachers to look for education opportunities to teach with movies. Here are a few discussion topics that can help with lesson plans or teaching in the home.
As Thomas tries to cope with Alec’s disappointment with him, he asks Marie why she chose him in the first place. What reasons does she give? What events in her past contribute to the way she sees Thomas? How does her vision help to shape the boy?
How does Marie use the local folklore to assist Thomas in dealing with his sense of loneliness and fear? What other tools does she offer to help him heal from his past?
How does the seal pup’s plight parallel Thomas’s life experience? Is he the only character in the movie who is feeling abandoned?
