After watching a movie with your children or students, we encourage parents and teachers to look for education opportunities to teach with movies. Here are a few discussion topics that can help with lesson plans or teaching in the home.
Usually members of our society recognize the hateful nature of making jokes that poke fun of members of a particular religion, nationality, sexual orientation, or otherwise identifiable group. Yet jokes about blondes abound. What do you think of this contradiction? Is it acceptable?
This movie depicts elected government officials making “deals” with other members in order to promote certain bills and special interests. Is this deal making an unavoidable part of politics? Does it help or hinder our political system? Is it possible for governments to satisfy everyones desires?
Animals have played a major role in the development of many products—from pharmaceuticals, to beauty products and household cleansers. The issue of using animals for testing purposes has been debated for decades. Do you think animals should be used for any testing purposes? Rod Gustafson has worked in various media industries since 1977.
