Why Is Scoop Rated PG-13?

The biggest issue for parents with this PG-13 film will be the principal female character’s casual attitude toward sex. A student journalist, she’s willing to sleep with men to capture a promising story. However, no sexual activity is seen and verbal descriptions are not at all explicit. Discussions about a serial killer are included, a drowning is depicted, and a woman is killed during the course of the movie (again, nothing is show on screen). Social drinking is seen, as is a comical depiction of the afterlife, including the “grim reaper.” A few mild profanities and terms of Christian deity are heard.
