Why is Rush rated R?
Official MPAA Rating: Rush is rated R for for sexual content, nudity, language, some disturbing images and brief drug use.
Violence: Accidents on a Formula 1 race track depict a man covered in blood with a partial missing leg and a bone exposed; another corpse is briefly seen that appears to be decapitated. A car is engulfed in flames with a driver trapped inside. A man beats an arrogant reporter until his face is covered in blood. A married couple argues over the husband’s alcohol addiction. Bloody injuries and explicit medical procedures are realistically depicted.
Sexual Content: At least fours scenes depict a man in bed with a woman (in one the man is seen with two women). Sexual activity is simulated and implied. (Kissing, embracing, fondling, undressing and straddling are seen.) Male and female breast and buttock nudity is shown, sometimes in a sexual situation. One unmarried male character frequently seeks sexual relations from various women. Infidelity and adultery are discussed.
Language: Over a dozen sexual expletives are heard, including one used in a sexual context. Scatological slang, crude anatomical terms and religious names are used as expletives.
Alcohol / Drug Use: Illegal drug use is briefly depicted, including marijuana and cocaine. Many scenes include characters smoking tobacco. Characters drink alcohol frequently, often to the point of drunkenness, in social settings, at parties and to deal with disappointments. Substance abuse is referred to.
Other: A character is depicted vomiting on several occasions.
