Why Is The Rocketeer Rated PG?

Violence: Characters are shot, stabbed, beaten, kidnapped and killed. A character kills others in a gruesome manner by crushing them. A dead man is shown in the trunk of a car. Agents and mobsters exchange gunfire during a police chase. Characters engage in fistfights with bloody results. Cars and planes explode following an accident. Characters fall from an air machine. A murdered man is seen on the floor of his office. Mobsters riddle a house with bullets. Characters are threatened with weapons and one man attempts to burn the face of another character on a hot cooking griddle. A woman hits a man over the head with a heavy object. A character blows up in an explosion. Another character is seen engulfed in flames. A zeppelin explodes and burns midair.

Sexual Content: A girl toys with the affections of another character. She wears a low cut dress that reveals some cleavage. Couples kiss, sometimes passionately. Some brief sexual innuendo is included.

Language: Mild profanities are used throughout the film.

Alcohol / Drug Use: Characters drink and use cigarettes or cigars on several occasions, usually at social events or in a bar setting. A man uses chloroform on another character.
