Why Is The Producers Rated PG-13?
This lively musical production offers plenty of upbeat tunes. Unfortunately, the lyrics contain numerous lines of sexual innuendo and the characters openly discuss and joke about sexual topics. There are also exaggerated portrayals of homosexual characters. In addition to sexual depictions, the script satirically lampoons stereotypical characters, making fun of minorities, body shapes and morality in a manner that may be difficult for children to understand. Slaps, punches and kicks to the groin are also part of the comedic action along with crude hand gestures.
