Why is The Parent Trap (1961) rated G?
Official MPAA Rating: The Parent Trap (1961) is rated G for
The girls take a certain delight in playing pranks on others. These include sabotaging tents with mud, honey, string and toilet paper, cutting the back out of a girl’s dress so her underwear is exposed, and practical jokes intended to embarrass the recipient. One of these incidents results in a food and fist fight, another coaxes two bear cubs into a tent. Besides the slapstick antics, humor is also derived from some miscommunications about the facts of life and a bra that is left hanging in a shower. The quick temper of Maureen O’Hara’s character leads her to punch her ex-husband in the eye. As well, adult characters smoke and drink alcohol through out the film.
