Mr. Hobbs' (James Stewart) dream vacation is radically altered into a nightmarish family reunion, courtesy of a sentimental notion from Mrs. Hobbs (Maureen O'Hara). Now the couple, their four children, two son-in-laws and three grandchildren are trapped under one dilapidated roof with tempers threatening to blow as high as their accommodation's unstable plumbing.
