Why Is Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs Rated PG?
Full of cartoon style violence and frequent moments of peril, this third installment in the Ice Age franchise contains more action than the previous scripts. Animals fall or are pushed from cliffs, are hit with objects and smashed by trees or other falling debris. One character has the hair ripped off his chest. After being eaten, animals are humorously shown alive inside the mouth or digestive system. One character is kicked in the groin. Another is shown sleeping with a stick up his nose. One animal is caught on a rock in the middle of a river of lava. Dinosaurs attack other characters. Animals repeatedly fight. A character attempts to "milk" a male animal. Several mild, sexually suggestive comments are made as well as remarks about pregnancy. Bathroom humor includes some crude commentary about bedwetting, barfing, mucus, saliva and castration. Toxic fumes cause characters to talk in altered voices and laugh uncontrollably. An animal is shown in labor. Brief name-calling is included. Characters kiss and engage in romantic behavior.
