Why Is High School Musical Rated Not Rated?
This warm and fuzzy musical offers some good teen role models, as well as a few familiar stereotypes like a calculating blonde with subtle bullying techniques, a by-the-books drama teacher, jocks that only know sports, whiz kids with no respect for athletic abilities and a basketball dad focused on winning. As the story progresses, many of these groups have a (sometimes contrived) change of heart. A female teacher goes into a boy’s locker room and sends the towel-clad occupants scurrying. A teen couple kisses. Some mild conflict arises as young adult characters assert their independence.
