Why Is Flyboys Rated PG-13?
This war movie contains many depictions of graphic injuries and violence involving guns. Characters are shot on screen and shown crashing to the ground. The use of suicide as a means to evade a more painful death is portrayed. Civilians are seen fleeing from enemy troops, and soldiers enter into a family’s house. A visit to a brothel, where women wear period lingerie, is depicted, but sexual activity is only implied. It is a popular evening pastime for the men to drink alcohol to drown their sorrows after a day of fighting. Language is limited to a small number of mild expletives and profanities.
